OVING TENNIS CLUB
The village has excellent facilities for tennis in the form of a Club run for the benefit of residents from Oving and surrounding villages. The club was founded in 1993 and is run by an enthusiastic Committee, constantly seeking to improve the club, its facilities and the opportunities we offer members to enjoy their tennis. We have two well maintained hard courts at the Recreation Ground.
We are a relaxed and friendly club and we cater for players of all standards from absolute beginner to expert. Everyone is welcome.
For those who wish to improve their game we offer coaching for juniors and seniors; novices, improvers and experienced players. We also run Ladies, Mens and mixed teams in local leagues.
There are friendly club sessions three times a week: Sunday mornings (10.30 am), Tuesday afternoons (2.00 pm), Wednesday evenings (6.30 pm), where you will be welcomed and will get to play informal games with other members of all standards. We play short games on a rotation basis and there are Members on hand at those sessions to make sure everyone gets a regular game and that these are as evenly matched as possible.
There are tournaments for competitive players and fun tournaments for the less serious. These are usually followed by social events such as barbecues. Membership fees are 80 pounds for adults, 30 pounds for children and other concessions (eg students and unemployed people) and 150 pounds for a family. Our Oving Tennis Club also now has two new courts and new floodlights. It is like playing at Wimbledon!
There is a small joining fee. There are no booking fees for the courts so once you have joined, your games are free for the year including club sessions.
The club has recently joined the British Lawn Tennis Association and this has many benefits for our members. Among these benefits is guaranteed access to a limited number of Wimbledon Tickets every year.
