Our objectives
The Parish Council will
- Conduct its affairs transparently, according to the recommended codes of practice and ruling legislation. Ensure finances and resources are appropriately managed, audited in a timely manner and that the Parish lives within its means. Councillors will do their best to represent the views and interests of all Oving residents, and shall ensure consideration is given to these views, endeavouring to understand parishioners’ views expressed in community questionnaire and providing opportunities for community engagement.
- Ensure that the Council has an up to date understanding of the wishes, view and needs of the residents of the Parish by conducting surveys and talking to as many of them as is possible.
- Further develop community spirit by encouraging different activities and events that appeal to and involve all sectors and age groups in the Parish.
- Manage Oving Recreation Ground (REC) by managing the upkeep and improvements to the recreation ground in an appropriate and sensitive way to ensure this important facility continues to appeal to all in the village as a key amenity for their use.
- Maintain the historic Reading Room to an acceptable standard as a meeting room.
- Maintain the sports current pavilion to an acceptable standard.
- Maintain the children’s playground to provide best in class facilities.
- Manage and develop Oving Village Hall according to the terms of the Oving Village Hall Trust for the benefit of current and future generations of villagers.
- Continue to provide adequate numbers of dog bins. Discourage dog fouling and encourage dog owners to clean up after their dogs throughout the village.
- Ensure effective risk management, mitigating risk and ensuring all property adequately insured.
LOCAL & NEIGHBOURING PLANNING
- Provide input to all relevant planning and development proposals at the local, regional and government level as much as they impact on the quality of life and rural nature of Oving.
- Maintain the quality of the roadways, pathways and verges. Lobby appropriate to improve the roadways and pavements, paying particular attention to road safety. Maintain working street lighting. Ensure suitable winter road precautions are taken.
- Pursue any relevant and effective traffic calming measures. Actively take part in the countywide process of reducing vehicle speeds within and around Oving.
- Work positively with clubs, societies, and users of the Recreation Ground, particularly the Tennis and Football clubs through a well-managed Recreation Ground Committee meeting twice a year in spring and autumn.
- Maintain open and effective communication with residents through the Parish magazine, Oving website and social media.
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER AUTHORITIES
- Liaise with and maintain in a positive manner our councillors for AVDC and Bucks County Council to ensure co-operation between the local councils and Oving Parish Council.
